Hello, I'm Luca, the author of Ariadne GPS.
Since 2020 the app has had no updates. Many of you told me so, and you were right. I let it fall behind, and I'm sorry.
Version 4.5.4 is out today. It isn't the big news yet: it's the first step. Ariadne is up to date for today's iPhones, the monitor is more reliable and everything is quicker with VoiceOver. If you bought it, the update is yours at no cost.
I'm working on a much bigger version, which we are already testing. I'll tell you about it when you can get your hands on it.
Thank you to everyone who stayed.
Luca
What's new in version 4.5.4
- VoiceOver actions on favorites: from the list, using the rotor, you can observe, activate, edit, share or open any favorite in maps without opening its details.
- Repeat action on Where Am I? and on the monitor, to hear the last message again whenever you want.
- More reliable monitor: phrases come one after another, alerts are no longer lost and addresses arrive even with the screen locked. When you stand still, GPS drift no longer produces new addresses.
- Map: with VoiceOver you zoom with a vertical flick, and the three-finger tap also tells you the size of the area shown and its orientation.
- Settings: with VoiceOver each row is read in one go and changed with a double tap.
- New Home screen with large high-contrast buttons, dark mode and text that follows the size chosen in iOS.
- Many bug fixes.
Requires iOS 18 or later.
What Ariadne does
- Where am I: tells you the street, number and area you are in.
- Explore the map: move your finger on the screen to hear street names and get a sense of an area, around you or in another city.
- Monitor: as you walk or travel, it tells you what changes along the way.
- Favorites: save your places and get an alert as you approach them, with sound, vibration and voice.
